Premise

Antistasi is set in the small nation of Chernarus. Chernarus is under the occupation of Russian forces. The Russian federation is attempting to gain political control of Chernarus by overthrowing the government prompting the Chernarus Civil War.

The story follows two main characters: ‘Stecha’ and ‘Stephen Williams’. Stecha is the commander of the CCM, an insurgent movement attempting to liberate Chernarus from the Russians. Stephen Williams is a war correspondent covering the Chernarus Civil War, and the refugee crisis in neighboring Takistan - Williams attempts to document the situation which is unfolding in Chernarus without becoming involved.

Antistasi begins with Stephen Williams as he documents the refugee crisis in Takistan. Takistan is flooded with Chernarus citizens displaced by the civil war. NATO forces are called in to Northern Takistan to provide aid to fleeing civilians. US Forces are deployed in North East Chernarus in an attempt to provide diplomatic aid to the civilians which are attempting to flee Chernarus. The US and NATO forces suffer insurgent attacks which prompt them to attack and declare war on Russia. Williams reveals that while the CCM fights a noble cause, they indiscriminately kill civilians to secure their objectives.

Stecha's story is told through propaganda war footage from the front lines which is distributed directly to Williams. As commander of the CCM, Stecha is leading his men on the front lines to repel the soviet occupation of small villages. As Stecha pushes forward, he is faced with the brutality of war and witnesses the death of his men and commits war crimes. Petros is Stecha’s political partner and head of recruitment. As the CCM liberates towns, they capture enemy assets and increase in strength by forcing civilians to fight for their cause.

‘Stecha’ is the commander of the CCM.  Stecha was a commander in the defeated Chernarus Army. With the help from his exiled political ally, Petros - Stecha gathers a small militia: The CCM.  The CCM is an insurgent group attempting to liberate and seize political control of Chernarus.

• ‘Stecha’(code name)

  • Not much is known about Stecha. He was born in northern Takistan on the border of Chernarus. He is not 

  • Stecha is responsible for commanding the CCM forces.

  • Stecha is a former Soviet Air Force Commander - Stecha earned high honors during the Soviet-Afghan War. although during the political collapse of Chernarus - Stecha became the commander of the CCM...

  • Stecha led operations in Northern Takistan - connecting him with Petros.

• Stephen Williams

  • Stephen Williams is a young reporter sent to investigate the Civil War in Chernarus. He reports for a media company in London. He pursues the CCM’s campaign across Chernarus, and reveals the horrors of war through a candid lens Stephen tells the story of the war through the eyes of the people fighting in it. Stephen interviews soldiers, collects footage, visits the front lines, interviews refugees, and visits sites that are affected by the Chernarus Civil War.

• Petros

  • Petros can be described as a cold and ruthless leader - Petros is responsible for framing the civil war as a necessary means to overthrow the Russian occupiers, and return the land to the people of Chernarus. 

  • Petros oversees the recruitment, training, and funding of the CCM forces. 

  • Petros is the Political figure leading the CCM - Petros has intentions of becoming the leader of Chernarus by forming a militia and overthrowing the Soviet occupation.

  • He is responsible for acquiring taxes, and recruiting civilians into the CCM.

    • Petros is responsible for ordering the torture of russian sympathizers.

    • Petros feels no remorse for the death of civilians -

  • Many live in the port cities - but many work harvesting many of the Chernarus resources.

  • Many citizens have been trapped in Chernarus by heavy fighting.

• Refugees

  • Ethnic Chernarus citizens are fleeing to neighboring Takistan in the south, destabilizing the region.

  • Many are trapped by the heavy fighting - as a result many battles result in civilian casualties.

• Soviet Union (Communist Russia)

  • The Soviet Union is on the brink of collapse. Chernarus makes a bid for its own freedom resulting in a series of clashes between the Chernarus Army and Russian Separatists. The Soviets send troops to support the Russian Separatists and succeed in occupying Chernarus and overthrowing their government. The CCM was formed to defeat the Soviet occupation in a brutal civil war.

  • Stephen Williams gathers footage from the soviet front lines. Stephen reveals the Soviets are doubtful they will win the conflict.

  • Stephen Williams discovers the Soviets have been murdering civilians in mass.

  • NATO forces are deployed to prevent the death of millions displaced by the civil war.

  • NATO forces define the CCM as a terrorist group. NATO is aware the CCM has committed war crimes during the civil war and will not negotiate with them.

    • NATO fears the war will result in the death of millions.

  • US Forces are deployed in Chernarus strictly to provide aid to the humanitarian crisis.

  • NATO sees Russia as a threat, but fears an escalation between the USSR.

  • The USA is imposing economic and trade sanctions on Russia, due to their role in the Chernarus civil war - and imposing economic sanctions for ignoring the sovereignty of Chernarus.

  • NATO Forces are deployed in Takistan fighting an insurgency.

Character Dynamics

• Stecha and Stephen Williams

  • Stecha and Stephen are not allies.

  • Stecha is suspicious of the western media’s portrayal of the Civil War. Stecha is reluctant to allow Stephen film his soldiers on the front lines.

  • Stephen believes it is integral to tell the REAL story - although the information he gathers portrays Stecha as a ruthless murderer - and guilty of war crimes.

  • Stephen gathers videos of the front lines 

    • - Notably, a video of Stecha executing one of his own.

  • Cause: Chernarus is a post-soviet nation that borders Russia. Chernarus possesses strategic ports, lumber and mineral resources. The USSR has sent military aid to Russian Separatist groups to overthrow Chernarus.
